The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, tidiness, and appearance of Community including common areas and resident apartments per their individual Service Plan. Additionally, the Maintenance Assistant will assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents, family members, visitors, and employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
• Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS

• Ability to pass criminal background check and drug test as a condition of employment, regardless of operating a motor vehicle
• CPR and First Aid certified 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleans and straightens rooms, offices, and common rooms and common areas
• Cleans bathrooms in apartments, common and office areas including sinks, showers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures
• Replenishes soap and paper products in bathrooms and at hand washing sinks
• Cleans and dusts vertical and horizontal surfaces that collect dust
• Cleans mirrors and glass surfaces
• Sweeps and mops floors in apartments and common areas
• Ensures that resident’s apartments are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and that residents’ personal items are safeguarded
• Cleans spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed
• Uses cleaners and other hazardous chemicals according to department policies and procedures and within State and Federal regulations
• Properly stores equipment and supplies
• Follows Community-specific fire safety and infection control practices
• Promptly reports any unsafe conditions or equipment
• Dusts and vacuums apartments, common and office areas and shampoos or spot cleans carpets in these areas as needed or scheduled
• Empties trash from apartments, common areas, bathrooms and office areas and reline containers with plastic liners
• Cleans entryway, patios, courtyards and ashtrays
• Clean sidewalk areas near entryways
• Clean courtyard furnishings and debris from perimeter of building
