Food Server

The Server/Dishwasher/Dishwasher assists with meal preparation as requested by the Cook and Dining Services Director. They complete are food preparation in a safe and appetizing manner in compliance with dietary standards, and departmental policies and procedures.

The Server/Dishwasher is the primary Server/Dishwasher and should ensure all interactions with residents and guests are positive, courteous and polite. They will always keep in mind the standards of conduct expected by older generations and behave accordingly.

Additionally, the Server/Dishwasher cleans the kitchen, washes dishes and returns food to proper storage. Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen is an important part of all Dining Services employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS

  • Ability to pass criminal background check and drug test as a condition of employment
  • Maintains current State of Nevada Food Handler’s Permit
  • CPR and First Aid certified 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages using appropriate portion control
  • Cleans and maintains food service areas, including kitchen and dining room, maintaining a safe and sanitary work area
  • Cleans up spills and other potential hazards or messes as observed
  • Assists in daily and scheduled cleaning duties, according to assignment, and to the highest possible standards
  • Washes dishes either in the dishwasher or by hand as appropriate
  • Assists in meal service, meal tray set-up, reading dietary orders and tray cards to ensure that residents are served the proper diet and food preferences
  • Ensures proper storage of food and supplies
  • Uses cleaners and other hazardous chemicals according to departmental policies and procedures, and State and Federal regulations
  • Follows Community fire safety and infection control practices
  • Resets dining room following meal service
  • Assists the Dining Services Director and the Cook in maintaining inventory control
  • Maintains clean, neat and safe work environment
  • Ensures employee and guest meals are accounted for on a daily basis
  • Reports to Dining Services Director any loss, breakage or waste of supplies and equipment
  • Observes and communicates to Dining Services Director problems or potential problems in the Dining Services Department including promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment
  • Observes and reports any unusual or potentially dangerous resident behavior
